Vice President JD Vance says a big TikTok deal could be finalised before next month’s deadline, allowing the popular video-sharing app to keep operating in the U.S. 📱🇺🇸
✅ A Deal to Keep TikTok Running
In an interview with NBC News on Friday, Vance said:
🛑 A ban is unlikely—a deal will likely be reached to address national security concerns.
📜 Whether through a sale or an extension, TikTok will remain operational in a way that protects Americans' data and national security.
🤝 President Trump is in talks with four potential buyers, though their names haven’t been confirmed.
⏳ The Deadline & What’s at Stake
📆 April 5: TikTok must find a U.S. buyer or face a potential ban under a bipartisan law passed during the Biden administration.
💰 TikTok’s U.S. operations were valued at $50 billion last year, making it a huge asset.
🏢 ByteDance (TikTok’s parent company) faces challenges in getting approval from China to sell its U.S. business.
🤔 Who Might Buy TikTok?
Here are some public bidders so far:
💰 Billionaire Frank McCourt & Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian
📹 YouTube star MrBeast & tech entrepreneur Jesse Tinsley
🤖 Perplexity AI (San Francisco-based AI firm)
☁️ Oracle Corp. (Larry Ellison’s company, which already hosts TikTok’s U.S. data)
What about Elon Musk? 🤔
🚀 The Tesla & X owner was considered, but he said he's not interested.
📜 Trump’s Role & Demands
🔸 Trump has shifted from banning TikTok to supporting it, saying the app helps connect with younger voters.
🔸 He has already extended the deadline once and might do it again if needed.
🔸 Trump wants the U.S. to own 50% of TikTok’s U.S. operations as part of the deal.
🔍 What’s Next?
📜 Vance says the deal will be clear soon, but legal paperwork might take longer.
⏳ He hopes they won’t need another extension, but if necessary, it could happen.
📢 Expect more updates before the April 5 deadline!
Would you invest in TikTok if it became a U.S.-owned company? 🤔📊
